WILD

My dear friend Melissa texted: “I would like to buy one of your paintings. Can you come and look at my house and let me know what you think?”

I was so excited to see her newly remodeled home and catch up with her! She has two wild boys, 3 and 6 who are home all day. She is also a full-time working mom who is working from home all day. Her newly remodeled kitchen has calm gray tile and fresh white cabinets.

The day after visiting with her I started on her painting. I chose burnt Sienna, Phthalo Blue and Titanium White. When I sprinkled the paint on the canvas and started mixing the colors, it was wild! It was a chaotic storm of paint brush strokes, shapes and colors. I took a look, and it was crazy and energetic, just like my friends two little boys. But, what the family really needs is a moment of calm in their home. So after a few layers of color, I sprinkled on white and mixed it into soothing brush strokes that blended the underlying colors into a layer of calm.
